Privacy policy

In short

The app stores all values only on your iPhone and Apple Watch. It has no internet connection, no account and no tracking.
As the developer, I receive no data from the app: no values, no names, no usage statistics.
This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads nothing from third-party servers. The web host keeps server log files that are technically necessary.

PheLog is a private, non-commercial project. No data protection officer has been appointed, as none is required by law.

2. The PheLog app

No data collection by the developer

PheLog does not collect personal data and does not transfer any data to me or to third parties. The app has no server connection, no sign-in, no analytics or advertising software and no third-party components. The app’s privacy manifest accordingly declares no tracking and no collected data.

What the app stores on the device

To work, PheLog stores the following information that you enter yourself:

Phe values with date and an optional note,
optionally a first name and a date of birth,
the selected form (for example mild HPA or classic PKU), the unit and your limits.

This information is kept only locally on the device: the values in the app’s database (SwiftData), the settings in the app preferences (UserDefaults). Phe values are health data. I have no access to them; they only leave the device in the ways described below, which you control.

Apple Watch

iPhone and watch sync the values directly with each other, using Apple’s WatchConnectivity interface between the paired iPhone and the watch. No server operated by the developer is involved. The watch stores the most recently synced values and any entries that have not yet reached the iPhone.

CSV export and import

A CSV file with your values is only created when you choose “Als CSV exportieren” (export as CSV) in the settings. You decide in the iOS share sheet where the file goes, for example to the Files app, by email to your metabolic centre or via AirDrop. The terms of the chosen destination apply. When importing, the app only reads the file you select.

Backups

The app’s data can be part of your iPhone backup, either an iCloud backup or a backup on a computer. You decide in the iOS settings whether and where backups are made. Apple’s terms and privacy policy apply to iCloud.

Links in the “Wissen” tab

The “Wissen” (knowledge) tab contains links to external sources. When you tap one, the page opens in your browser and that website’s privacy policy applies. The app itself does not open any connection.

App Store

PheLog is distributed through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes data for downloads and updates under its own responsibility; see Apple’s privacy policy. If you have agreed in the iOS settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple provides me with aggregated statistics and crash reports. These contain no values from the app, and Apple does not pass on information that identifies you personally.

Deletion

When you delete PheLog from your iPhone and watch, all data stored in the app is removed from these devices. Existing backups and exported CSV files are not affected.

3. This website

Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich, owner René Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with All-Inkl.

When you open a page, the server automatically records information sent by your browser: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the amount of data transferred, the previously visited page (referrer) and browser and operating system. This is needed to deliver the website securely and reliably and to detect attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The log files are deleted after 30 days. I do not analyse them or combine them with other data.

No cookies, no tracking

This website sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. There are no analytics tools, no ads and no social media embeds. Fonts, images and the explainer video are served from the same server and are not loaded from third parties. The connection is encrypted with TLS.

4. Contact by email

If you email me, I process your address and the content of your message to answer your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR and, for questions about using the app, also Art. 6(1)(b). The mailbox is also hosted by All-Inkl. I delete messages once the request has been dealt with, unless there are statutory retention obligations.

Please don’t send lab reports or values by email. It isn’t necessary for questions about the app.

5. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) (Art. 21). Just write to hallo@phelog.de.

You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one where you live.

Because the app does not transfer any data to me, I cannot provide information about the values in the app. They are only with you.

6. Changes

If the app or this website changes in a way that involves processing other data, I will update this policy. The version published here applies.
